citizenM Menlo Park: Modular III
After a couple “trial runs” I was handed the reins to direct the development and construction of citizenM’s addition to the Facebook Campus HQ in Menlo Park California.
Building a second project with CIMC provided a great opportunity to refine and improve the product we’d first developed for citizenM DTLA. The project has several notable accomplishments in its volumetric modular design and construction: all steel construction, moment frame modules with no additional seismic bracing above podium, factory installed MEP risers with “plug-and-play” connections in the field, modular stairs and elevator hoists, and modular MEP penthouses.
Some hurdles I’m happy to discuss over a beer now that they’re cleared: "major modifications," permits, intermodal international logistics (including costs, longshoremen, and reach stackers), PGE, sanitary capacity fees, switchgear, AT&T, city hall visits, Hoosier connections, and many more…
